Mana and Tawa College Song
Words of song composed by
students from Mana and Tawa College
This is our cry, this is our prayer, peace in the world.
Early in the morning Hiroshima was bathed in sunshine
The people awoke believing another normal day had begun
But the atomic flash from “Little Boy” changed the course of History
Engulfing Japan in a deadly shadow
A journey of peace had begun.
The atom bomb disease cast its shadow over Hiroshima
Plagued with this disease Sadako began her quest
To those who fold a 1000 cranes a single wish is granted
Her eyes shone while she folded the cranes showing her desire to survive
The wings of the crane lead Sadako to heaven.
A horrific tragedy, yet from it do we learn?
Follow the spirit of a little girl
To find compassion and unity in all mankind
To understand how destructive the cycle of war is
To cast off the shadow, create peace and harmony, create a better life
I will write peace on your wings and you will fly all over the world.
