A list of TIPS for teachers planning a school trip to Japan:

  • Make sure you’ve thoroughly checked passports are valid and whether any students need visas.
  • Accommodate at least 1-2 of each student’s ‘wish list’ activities. E.g. trying on kimono, sumo, karaoke bar, cooking, temple.

A list of PITFALLS TO AVOID:

  • Getting too involved in fundraising! You will have enough to do to plan the trip and prepare the students.
  • Don’t cram too much in, the quality of the experience is key & kids get surprisingly tired.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

  • Great for keeping up the Languages Department profile.
  • Don't neglect your own family! You'll be busy planning a wonderful experience for your students, but you may do it at the expense of your own children.
